Bats
Black flying fox
The black flying fox is commonly found across the Kimberley, especially near rivers, mangroves, and fruiting trees. It is a large fruit bat that feeds on nectar, pollen, and fruit and often roosts in large daytime camps. Young flying foxes may cling to their mothers or be found on the ground if they fall from roosts.

Little red flying fox
The little red flying fox is smaller than the black flying fox and is highly nomadic, moving in large groups as food sources change. It feeds mainly on blossom and nectar and is often seen seasonally across northern Western Australia. Individuals may come into care due to heat stress, dehydration, or exhaustion.

Ghost bat
The ghost bat is a pale-coloured insect-eating bat found in caves, rocky outcrops, and old mine sites in the Kimberley. It hunts at night and feeds on insects, small reptiles, and other small animals. Ghost bats are rarely seen but may come into care if injured or disturbed at roost sites.
